Blue Hole of Malta.Best dive site.

 

 

 

 

The Blue hole is undoubtedly the most popular scuba dive site in all the maltese islands.It is situated in the west side of Gozo at Dwejra Bay which is a natural heritage site.The blue Hole is around 18 metres deep and at 7 metres there is an arch way which allows you to dive to the open sea.It is aspectacular dive site..Under the arch way one can view beautiful golden cup corals.When one dives out to the direction of the Azure Window there is a drop off which goes down to 60 metres.At 30-40 metres one can usually encounter big groopers and around the reef one can view a beautiful seen of dampsel fish(see main page)parrot fish and different kinds of fish life.

On the inner side of the Blue Hole there is a very big cave with sandy bottom.The cave is quite deep inside the blue hole and torch is a must.One has to always be careful not to touch the sandy bottom as it can murk the water and reduce the vis to the exit.

 

According to Jacque Cousteau the Blue hole dive site is listed as a top 10 world`s best dive site.
