Crocodile Rock is another superb scuba diving site loacated in the west of Gozo. The name comes from it`s crocodile like form as seen in the first photo. The dive can be done ewither from shore or by boat though from shore one has to negotiate a rough walk on the rock.Doing it from shore there is a 100 metre snorkel swim to reach it,but the sacrifice is worh. This is a beautiful wall dive with it`s maximum depth reaching 70-80 metres.Due to it`s depth this dive is home to many different kinds of fish, shallow and deep water ones. However the strart of the dive takes place at 16 metres on the reef.By boat one can anchor on the reef at the front of the crocodile when facing the rock from land.
On the way back there depending on air one can either surface in the coral gardens near Roger`s cave (middle) or otherwise from a shallow entrance under the cliffs if low on air.Golden cup coral (photo 3) makes this dive spectacular.
