MV.Xlendi was sunken deliberately as an attraction for scuba diving
around 7-8years ago.Before becoming a wreck
it served as a passenger and a
car ship between the islands of Malta ang Gozo.Feeling the need for new ships as
well the need
of wreck for improving the sites the sunk it.Since the south of
Gozo lacked from good diving spots the idea was to improve Xatt l-ahmar so
that
when strong north west winds hits there will still be some good
diving.
The idea was to sink it at 30-35 metres to be in access of the
average diver.Due
to strong winds on the day of the sinking the wreck fell to 35-42 metres and
as well headfirst as seen in the pictures.So this site is more for the experinced
diver since at 40 metres the no deco times is pushed to the limits.Good lights
are recommended and penetration to be done only with instructor or with experienced
divers who are faniliar with tha area.
